Terms of Service
1. The service
a·card provides prepaid virtual cards for AI agents, funded from a wallet you control. Cards carry spending rules you or your agent set at creation. We are not a bank; wallet funds are held with our regulated issuing partners.
2. Your account
You are responsible for your API keys and for the agents you connect. Anything an agent does within the limits you configured is treated as authorized by you. Keep your keys secret; rotate them immediately if you suspect compromise.
3. Prepaid wallets
Wallets are prepaid. Your maximum exposure is the amount you have loaded. Funds are not insured deposits and earn no interest. You may withdraw your available balance at any time, subject to settlement of pending holds.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use a·card for anything unlawful, for money laundering, or to evade sanctions. Don't attempt to circumvent card limits, approval gates, or the ledger. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, returning any available balance.
5. Approvals and declines
Charges that exceed your configured rules are declined by design. We are not liable for consequences of a declined charge, including where a merchant treats a decline as a failed order.
6. Fees
Subscription fees are billed in your local currency, monthly in advance, and are non-refundable for partial months. We'll give at least 30 days' notice before any fee change.
7. Liability
The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is capped at the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under South African law.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date is acceptance.
9. Funds custody and safeguarding
a·card does not hold, custody, or take ownership of any funds you deposit through the Service. All funds are held by our issuing partner, a licensed and regulated financial institution ("our Custody Partner"), in a segregated settlement and trust account maintained separately from a·card's own operating funds and from any other customer's funds.
a·card operates the technology layer only. We maintain a real-time ledger recording your ownership interest in the pooled funds held by our Custody Partner, and we determine, according to the spending rules, budgets, and approvals you configure, whether a given transaction is authorized. We do not at any point have the ability to access, move, or apply your funds for any purpose other than executing the instructions you and your authorized agents give through the Service.
Your funds are safeguarded under our Custody Partner's regulatory license and compliance obligations to the relevant financial regulator, not under any license held by a·card. In the unlikely event a·card ceases operations, funds held by our Custody Partner remain your property and are not part of a·card's assets or subject to its creditors.
a·card is not a bank, does not offer interest-bearing accounts, and your balance is not covered by any deposit insurance scheme unless separately stated by our Custody Partner.
10. Identity verification (KYC and AML)
To comply with the Financial Intelligence Centre Act and equivalent obligations, you must complete identity verification before funding your account. This verification is performed by, or on behalf of, our Custody Partner as part of their regulatory compliance program. We may share the information you provide with our Custody Partner and their compliance service providers for this purpose. See our Privacy Policy for details.
