AI agents can already plan a trip, restock a pantry, and top up their own API credits. The one thing standing between them and actually doing it is a payment method. And nobody sensible hands their real card to a language model.
a·card exists to make that handoff safe. We issue disposable, budget-capped virtual cards that agents mint for a single job. The card carries the rules (how much, where, how often) and the money sits in a prepaid wallet you control. When the job is done, the card is gone.
We started local because that's home, and because prepaid wallets and local payment rails were being ignored by everyone building for agents. We're building the payment layer we'd want our own agents to use: prepaid, scoped, human-approved, and open source.
AI agents are becoming economic actors. They book flights, order food, pay for SaaS subscriptions, top up API credits, and settle with suppliers, often faster than a human could approve the request. But they don't have payment infrastructure built for that.
