One intent in. The right rail out.

Describe the payment, not the plumbing. AFP picks the rail that fits and tells you why.

01routing

The decision comes back with its reasoning.

Cost, speed and finality are scored for every eligible rail. You get the chosen rail and why it won, not a black box.

Every rail is scored, not just the default one. Cost, speed and finality, per payment.
Ineligible rails say why. Over ceiling, wrong scale, unavailable in this market.
The winner returns its reasoning, so the choice is auditable after the fact.
Finality follows the rail. Posted is swept to settled only once the window closes.
02finality is typed

Posted is a claim. Settled is a fact.

Finality is typed, not assumed. Instant rails reach settled the moment the rail confirms. Rails carrying a reversal window or a settlement delay reach posted, and a worker sweeps them to settled only once the window has genuinely closed.

SETTLED
The money has moved and cannot come back. Instant rails land here directly.
POSTED
A claim, not yet a fact. Swept to settled only once the reversal or settlement window closes.
RECONCILING
The rail timed out or answered ambiguously. Re-queried on a schedule until there is evidence.
FAILED
Confirmed not to have moved. Funds released back to available.
03execution

We never guess where your money is.

The intent is written down before any outbound call, behind a unique index. A retry after a timeout cannot become a second payment.

EXECUTION ORDER
01Intent persisted behind a unique index
02Rails scored on cost, speed, finality
03Screening and Travel Rule messaging where the rail requires it
04Outbound call, exactly once

04before a rail is enabled

Wired in first, not bolted on after the first transfer.

Rails that move value outside the card network carry Travel Rule messaging and counterparty wallet screening before the rail can be switched on for anyone.

TRAVEL RULE
Originator and beneficiary messaging attached to the transfer itself.
COUNTERPARTY SCREENING
Wallet and entity screening against sanctions and high-risk lists before funds leave.
CONTRACTED FIRST
A rail is enabled per customer once the underlying counterparty relationship is contracted and tested.
DISCLOSED COST
Interchange and rail fees are passed through at cost and disclosed before a payment executes.

Stop hard-coding a rail. Make it a decision.

Submit an intent and let AFP choose. Card is live today; the rest switch on as they contract.
